Relson Gracie

Relson Gracie

Relson Gracie is the second oldest son of the late Grand Master Helio Gracie. He is also a jiu-jitsu red belt (9th degree) who pioneered the sport.

Professor Soisani, the instructor here at Yobe Jiu-Jitsu, has trained directly under Relson and continues to learn from him to this day. No other jiu-jitsu academy in the Chicagoland area teaches jiu-jitsu as taught by the great Relson Gracie himself.

Helio Gracie

Helio Gracie is arguably the most important figure in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. One of the first Gracie Jiu Jitsu representatives in the 1930′s and 1940′s he was also the father and master of many fighters who carried the name of BJJ to Martial Arts’ main stream in the early 1990′s, competitors such as Royler, Rickson and Royce Gracie. His lineage and legacy is one of the strongest in Jiu Jitsu and he is regarded as one of the fathers of the Brazilian grappling art.

Professor at Yobé

Professor Soisani Shivagiri has amassed more than 20 years of experience as a student, competitor, and instructor of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He is a well-rounded fighter with expertise in Gracie Jiu Jitsu (also known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or BJJ) and Muay Thai (Thai Boxing). He received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from renowned Master Carlos “Caique” Elias and also had the opportunity to work closely with Master Caique as an instructor at the Caique Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense Academy. He has also trained very closely with Helio, Rickson, Relson, Rorion, and Royce Gracie developing the most effective teaching style.

Women’s Self-Defense Classes

womens self defense

This is a brand new offering here at Yobe Jiu-Jitsu. We believe it’s important for women to know how to defend themselves against a stronger assailant in the unfortunate event that something ever happens. So we decided to put together a class that teaches women the elements of jiu-jitsu that they can use in a real-life situation to defend themselves and get away safely.

We’re currently offering 1 class free of charge for all new students so you can try it out before committing anything financially. We’re positive that after you try out a class, you will be back for more!
